Hear and See

Alerts (such as doorbells, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, etc) that can be heard and seen are the safest for everyone. Visual notifications are important for individuals that have trouble hearing, but consider this: many smartphones have lights that indicate that a message has arrived. The combination of audible and visual alerts is the way to go.
