Bedroom Floor Space

It’s important to make sure the bed size needed (or wanted) and room layout provides enough space to move around and reach all important areas: the side of the bed, closets, seating areas, dressers, and the windows. The layout has a direct impact on the function of a room.

32 inches of space (or more) next to both the sides of a bed as well as the foot is ideal. People who use a walker, wheelchair, crutches, or a cane need to be able to get on and off the bed with ease. Beds can often be squeezed into small places without enough space to access a side of the bed, particularly with a mobility device.
